PDGRS provides job coaching for those who are skilled and motivated to work, but require assistance with job attainment and retention.
Launched in 1997, its mission is to present self-employment as a realistic and viable vocational option for individuals with significant disabilities. RISE Program staff work with individuals, their families, rehabilitation professionals, and the business community to facilitate and encourage the successful launch and operation of consumer-owned ventures.
This assistance includes:
- Researching job opportunities
- Completing applications and assessments
- Resume and cover letter development
- Interview and interpersonal skills
Once employed, PDG delivers job coaching services for at least 90 days – during the critical adjustment period – thereby increasing the probability of job retention.
PDG job coaches work alongside the individual at his or her workplace to assist with employer-employee communication, correct inappropriate behaviors, and ensure tasks are performed as required.
