Baltimore Open House

A party needs food and decorations; an Open House, however, takes and means much more. Changes are showcased in the space itself, but the event also celebrates company-wide improvements. In April, PDG hosted its long-awaited Baltimore Open House in the wake of several major changes to PDG services.

The first big change to the PDG space was expanding the kitchen. The office originally had a small, outdated kitchen and a hallway kitchenette, separated by an unused supply closet. PDG and Gaslight Square management worked over several months to plan a new, combined kitchen and oversee the renovations. PDG’s new kitchen is bright, big, and functional – and staff were happier than ever!

Next came the purge. Those old chairs, desks, and equipment needed to go! PDG owners, management, and staff pitched in over multiple days to take all the unneeded items to Second Chance, another nonprofit right around the corner that would put these items to good use.

Finally, furniture and new layouts were planned. Management and staff again stepped up to assemble all the pieces and place them around the office. Unused rooms became therapy rooms named after notable figures with mental illnesses: Kurt Cobain, Herschel Walker, and Carrie Fisher. Executive management picked special artwork and decorations to commemorate these individuals. The lobby and hallways gained a new pizzazz and staff were thrilled to be in an updated, warm environment.

As these physical changes happened, services improved as well. These are the changes PDG is most proud of and celebrated at the Open House:

  • PDG Therapeutics expanded to Baltimore and our new clinician Kayla Keiter started seeing children and adolescents.
  • PDG signed a lease for a new space in Rockville, MD, allowing us to serve Montgomery County and expand the reach of several of our programs.
  • Our PRP established additional recovery and orientation groups in the Baltimore office, designed to bring consumers together and facilitate greater program compliance while still offering community-based services.

On April 13th, PDG opened its doors to all staff, community partners, and other community members. Thanks to the food, the open bar, and the popular silent auction, the night was a great success and raised hundreds for PDG Rehabilitation Services. We are thrilled that our community and staff rallied to support PDG and celebrate all our achievements. Thank you to everyone who moved desks, tore down walls, put up flowers, and otherwise made this event a wonderful celebration.
